High purity lead?
I have a friend at work who is an avid reloader and bullet caster. He wants to experiment with different bullet alloys, with varying percentages of tin and antimony. In order to determine the accurate composition, he needs a source of 99+% lead. Any ideas? He's tried wheel weights and linotype, but he never really knows the composition of scrap lead.

Re: High purity lead?
bash a few terminals off the tops of big commercial marine or heavy EQuipment batteries. the connector straps and terminals are VERY pure lead. 99.5 % or better.
the plates, however are alloyed, and contaminated with antimony, sulfuric acid, and other nasties. the terminals are relatively easy to remove with standard percussive instruments. ( WEAR SAFETY GLASSES) |
